Kay Dower

Kay Dower started out as an unserious, serious artist, opening her first gallery ‘Corner Gallery’ just off Bishy Road in York, in 2016.

She works with lashings of acrylic paint and wields a palette knife to give paintings a sense of freedom and lots of texture. These are artworks that don’t want to hide behind glass…

Subjects range from everyday ‘still life’ objects (from pears to popcorn) to quirky, uber local scenes including seeing classic York buildings from fresh angles. Kay is the resident artist at Corner Gallery and the woman behind the business. She welcomes commissions, big and small, and loves to chat about where to hang your art once you get it home… and prints are available of all of her paintings.
